Tiki Tuesday is here, so we made a Sidewinder’s Fang! Did peeling and carving the garnish take longer than making the cocktail? Maybe. Was it worth it? Big time!
But hey this drink, created at the legendary Lanai Restaurant in San Mateo in the 1960s, is much more than just a really cool garnish—it’s citrus-forward, a little tart, and a lot refreshing.
INGREDIENTS:
1 oz lime juice
1 oz orange juice
1 oz passion fruit syrup (Liber & Co)
1 oz aged rum (@plantation.rum 5 Yr)
1 oz Coruba Jamaican rum
2 oz soda water
Garnish: Sidewinder’s Fang orange peel, mint sprig, Surfside Sips straw
DIRECTIONS:
Line a brandy snifter with your orange peel garnish, with the ‘snake head’ hanging over the rim and add ice to keep it in place.
Combine all ingredients minus the soda water in a shaker with ice and shake well. Double-strain into the glass and top with soda water. Add a mint sprig and Surfside Sips straw to enjoy!
